NO Plastic Bags, cont.

Plastic Bags didn't become a household product because we don't use them, need them or want them. They became a household item because they make things easy, they were cheap & we have become a disposable society.
So my question is; Were you able to; Just Say NO to Plastic Bags (for one week)? Did you get yourself some reusable bags? Did you forget them once or twice and then what did you do? Do you plan to cont. this now that you have started?

Let me know. Tell me what you use instead. Tell me if you use recycled kitchen trash bags, Bio Pet Bags, reusable Produce Bags, Etc.

BPA, The TOXIN

BPA (Bisphenol A) has been getting a lot of face time lately. And in all rights it should be. BPA is a chemical that mimics the neurotoxic actions of estrogen in developing neurons and most likely causes cancer, mood disorders, brain irregularities, etc.
BPA is found in plastic water bottles, plastic dental braces, food packaging, canned food linings and to no surprise (the FDA seems to care little about our future generations) even baby bottles. Now if you hoped that you could depend on someone (like the FDA) to care about us, we find out their studies on BPA were tainted. They were based on studies paid for by the plastic companies themselves.
Canada took the first step and removed water bottles, baby bottles and all products from the shelves last year due to a total ban on PBA. So, No more #6 plastic in Canada.
Where does that leave America? In the dust as usual.
The move in Canada adds pressure on U.S.
federal regulators to reexamine their position
on BPA, which is suspected of causing breast
and prostrate cancer, diabetes, hyperactivity and
other serious disorders in laboratory animals.
This week, a federal health panel in the United
States for the first time expressed concerns about BPA.

Now maybe the FDA has come to it’s senses, but I wouldn’t put money on it. Under pressure by Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal who asked or demanded, six larger manufacturers of baby bottles have announced they will stop making new baby bottles with the chemical BPA. But not one bottles is being recalled and not one is being removed from the shelf.
The six manufacturers are;
• Gerber
• Avent America, Inc
• Evenflo Co.
• Disney First Years
• Dr. Brown
• Playtex Products, Inc.
Remember the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has found BPA in almost 95% of people ages 6 and up. The chemical is also often present in breast milk and pregnant womens blood.
