Who's Getting Radiated?

Being in the health care profession and having Multiple Sclerosis I watch what I eat, what I put in and on my body. I also see patients every day at work that do the same. They are concerned about the chemicals put on their fruits and vegetables. They try to eat meat and dairy products that are not pumped full of growth hormones and antibiotics and in the same instance they never question the doctor that orders an ex-ray followed by a CT scan, and then if their really lucky an MRI (they expose you to no radiation).
The same is true for Mammograms, for years woman have been told once you reach a certain age it's time to have the boobies SMASHED. My partner was told that a few years ago and not once did the doctor tell her of alternative tests or the fact that mammograms are dangerous. Exposure to radiation has increased over 600% in the last three decades, could be because every time you are exposed to radiation it accumulates in your body.
So let me get this straight; the FDA says it is OK to irradiate beef, milk, cheese and other foods. FedEx irradiates our packages (our food, vitamins, etc.) but UPS does NOT. Doctors think it is OK to expose us to CT scans which is equivalent to several hundred ex-rays and of course mammograms which can lead to cancer, tissue damage and spread of cancer already present in the breast due to the extreme pressure put on the breast.
I myself am 44 years old, never had and never will get a mammogram, this is my choice. My advise here is to be informed, take an interest in your health. Be proactive, not reactive.
Below is some addition information with the attached web site.

Americans Exposed to Atomic Bomb Levels of Radiation through Medical Imaging, CT Scans, Mammograms

" A couple of CT scans can expose your body to as much radiation as standing a few miles from an atomic bomb explosion. This is a simple scientific fact."

"Thanks to the widespread use of medical imaging scans, hospitals are also becoming a major source of nuclear waste material."

"Most doctors have stopped using fetal x-rays since Stewart's work showed that a significant increase in leukemia was found in the children of mothers who had prenatal x-rays taken. She has said she believes that the effects of background radiation coupled with exposure to x-rays may cause most childhood cancers."

  1. Wow!

Being a bloke I guess I wont have to worry about mammograms but I did have a CAT scan last year - for an ear malfunction. It felt like I was in a tomb. And it gave me a headache. I hope that's all. Your words have been noted.

  2. I have had so many tests and I am always concerned with the "after effects". They won't tell you!

On a personal note, I put that candle info on the comments, but I'll send you an e-mail and tell you about them, if you like!

  3. That would be great or post the info for all to see. I love candles but they need to be all natural. ;)

  4. Irradiating food and packages is a method of killing harmful bacteria/viruses. There is no lingering radiation in these products. Radiation induced cancer results from damage to living DNA. If a dead body is x-rayed...they will not get cancer...same for the food and packages that are irradiated.

As for the mammogram issue. With up-to-date digital mamography, the dosage is lower. In addition if CAD is used to assist the Radiologist, tumors can be found earlier. The key to your safety here is to have an experienced mamographer and Radioligist in an accredited facility.

  5. Irradiating food causes molecular damage and an increase in free radicals. I believe there has got to be a better way.
"And from the hazards inherent in the technology to the FDA's own admission that the safety studies are flawed, the risks involved with food irradiation far outweigh the presumed "benefits."

As for the digital mammography, yes the risk is lower but a lot of doctors don't suggest it and a lot of women aren't informed enough to ask for different solutions.
My only hope is that people don't just listen to their doctors or to the FDA. I hope that people get informed and look at all avenues.

  6. Okay! Did a full post on my blog for everyone, as promised. Hope you get a chance to take a look at the site.
Candles are natural, containers are not! I don't want you to think I'm being dishonest.
